I handbuild wildlife and some figurative sculptures from stoneware clay which are then finished with oxides, underglazes and, sometimes, lustre and gold leaf. I have worked in Tanzania so some of my pieces have an African theme with sculptures of animals I have seen on safaris and recent work has included some African figures. I try to create the essence of the animal or human, rather than making an exact copy, and give each sculpture a personality of their own. Each sculpture is individually hand made and unique.
